Finally there is a modern way to engage each other with weapons safely! Does it hurt to get hit? -The weapons used in this program are designed with a flexible core surrounded by foam. Although they feel like the real thing, they are designed give and still retain their original shape. Students will feel the contact of a full speed strike, yet will not risk injury.-To further protect from accidental injury, students will be required to wear specially designed headgear with a face guard and neck guard, and are recommended to wear a cup and mouthguard. Gloves will also be available for purchase if anyone desires that protection. -As always, it is imperative that students inform the Instructor of any injuries prior to class, and of any sickness or injury they may sustain in class. (Ex. Sprains, strains, cuts, abrasions, nausea, etc.) How will I progress? -Students will progress through different levels just as they do in Sa-Gi-Do, however, the level markers and colors will not be the same. We will be using a Japanese system of leveling. Students will earn sashes (a satin cloth tied around the waist.) The levels are as follows: Level 1 – no sash – Novice Level 2 – White sash – Novice Level 3 – Gold sash – Novice Level 4 – Orange sash – Intermediate Level 5 – Green sash – Intermediate Level 6 – Blue sash – Intermediate Level 7 – Purple sash – Advanced Level 8 – Red sash – Advanced Level 9 – Brown sash – Advanced Level 10 – Black sash Levels beyond Black Why should I join today? -Entering this program on the ground level is very beneficial to a student, since those who enter early will be the highest ranks in the class in the coming months.
